Albert Ayirebi - Acquah is a strategic finance and commercial leader with over two decades' experience in corporate finance, governance, risk and energy-sector strategy. He is Commercial Director of Cenit Energy Limited. As Board Chair, Albert brings strong governance experience, financial stewardship, and a practical understanding of Ghana's energy and climate transition landscape. He is committed to supporting Ghana's energy transition roadmap, climate-positive development, responsible enterprise, and long-term impact for communities and future generations.

Co-chair
Rodney Fowlkes brings extensive expertise in information technology leadership, strategic planning, and digital transformation, with decades of experience guiding technolgy initiatives in both higher education and the corporate sector. His background includes CIO leadership, IT governance, infrastructure management, technology consulting, and aligning technology strategies with organizational goals. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he is passionate about using technology to strengthen communities, supporting educational programs and nonprofit organizations through innovative technology solutions.

Mohammed Abubakari is an Occupational Therapist and Board member at Sankofa Earth Foundation. He is an Operations and Logistics management expert, coordinating logistics and international travel between Ghana and the United States. Supporting efficient operations and strategic organizational initiatives.

Elizabeth Awuku is passionate about sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment. She believes that lasting impact is achieved through accountable leadership, strong institutions, and meaningful partnerships that create opportunities for people and communities to thrive. As a Board Member of Sankofa Earth Foundation, Elizabeth provides strategic governance and oversight, helping to shape the Foundation's vision, strengthen institutional accountability, and support sound decision-making. She brings to the Board 18 years of public sector experience, together with expertise in governance, financial management, regulatory compliance, and organizational development. Her practical understanding of public institutions, combined with her collaborative leadership style and commitment to ethical service, enables her to contribute meaningfully to the Foundation's mission of advancing environmental sustainability, education, and community development across Ghana.
Meet the people that made it all happen
Adjoa Achiaa Kesse-Sam (AJ) fondly called AJ, is a climate advocate and the Coordinator at Sankofa Earth Foundation. With over five years of experience in renewable energy, sustainable development, community engagement, and just energy transition advocacy. Drawing on her expertise in business management and administration, she leads community-driven initiatives to promote a just, inclusive energy transition- focusing on empowering women, youth, and undeserved populations to build climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods.
Nana Mariam Yussif is a climate finance and gender policy srtategist serving as the Ghana Country Director for the Women Environmental Programme (WEP). With six years of experience across climate adaptation, policy, and just transition, she leads community-based initiatives that have impacted over 600 women, youth, and vulnerable groups. She specializes in translating global climate commitments into locally driven, bottom-up solutions to advance sustainable development across Africa.
Monica Nyarko is a team member at Sankofa Earth Foundation who supports community-based initiatives focused on environmental sustainability and youth empowerment. She is passionate about service, teamwork, and empowering girls and young women to create lasting positive impact.
Aaron Aidoo is passionate and community-minded professional committed to creating positive social and environmental impact. Guided by the principles of sustainability and service, he strives to support initiatives that empower communities, protect the environment, and contribute to a better future for all.
Alexis A - Acquahis an educator, frontend web developer, and lifelong learner with interests spanning education, technology, and sustainability. With a foundation in the Montessori Method and the Cambridge Curriculum, she is committed to advancing equitable education and helping learners reach their full potential. Her curiosity about digital technologies and artificial intelligence has inspired a broader interest in applying technology to address global challenges, particularly in climate resilience and clean energy, where she hopes to contribute through innovative, human-centered solutions.
